Julius Shulman / Julie Arch Photography / Kalamazoo, Michigan Photographer

I was checking out the Sundance Channel a couple of weeks ago and happened upon a documentary about Julius Shulman entitled “Visual Acoustics”.  Julius was an architectural photographer who specialized in California Modernism, working with such greats as Neutra and Eames.  The way he created his images, choosing the best angle and placing the furnishings in just the right position, draw you into the photographs as if you were there.  I love that he came out of retirement at 90, to continue photographing what he did best.  In an interview in the movie, someone asks him “Julius, you enjoy your work don’t you?” and he replys “Oh, what else is there?”
